Healthy Eats 101

Goals & Objectives

In this introductory nutrition class, participants will gain confidence in the kitchen by integrating and applying the principles of food and nutrition awareness.

 

Goals:

In class, participants will:

  • Improve self confidence in the kitchen, while working individually and in groups.

  • Learn basic recipes and develop skills to make healthy choices.

  • Practice independent living skills, including time management, culinary math and nutritional science in an inclusive environment. 

  • Strengthen socialization, communication and presentation skills, while sharing their culinary work with other participants, staff and family.

  • Make decisions concerning nutrient claims, separating fact from fallacy

  • Apply the concepts of nutrition in personal food selection.
